About Us

The Veterans’ Memorial, located in Harbor Lawn Cemetery in Costa Mesa, California is a project that will be funded entirely by private contributions and corporate donations for the sole purpose of building this monument to all American veterans, from all wars and from all branches of the military.  Mr. Bud Hohl, an 87-year old Marine veteran of World War II, pioneered the vision for this project.  Mr. Hohl’s vision is to erect a tribute to all American veterans, to honor their legacy of commitment to our nation.

The Memorial is developed on a parcel of land in the City of Costa Mesa, at Harbor Lawn Cemetery at 1625 Gisler Avenue.  It will replace a current memorial, which consisted of one flag and two World War II machine guns.  The new Memorial will honor all the branches of the military as with plaques and flags signifying the importance of all aspects of the military. The design has been fine-tuned into an understated, magnificent respite, which will be the focal point of the cemetery.

The Costa Mesa Community Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit foundation is soliciting donations and sponsorships to facilitate the construction of this project.    Demolition began in January 2007 with a majority of the work completed by Memorial Day, May 28, 2007.  Personalized paving bricks will continue to be sold until the entire walkway is lined.  The funds raised through the brick sales will offset construction costs, which will include lighting and a seat wall for meditation and reflection.
